The practice of Ashtanga Yoga

In Ashtanga Yoga we can practice three series:

the first Yoga Chikitsa detoxifies and aligns the body, the Second or Intermediate series Nadi Shodana purifies the nervous system through the opening and cleaning the energy channels (nadis) and the third Sthira Bhaga integrates strength and grace into the practice, gaining a high degree of flexibility and humility.

Each series must be fully developed and known before proceeding to the next, and the sequential order of asanas should be followed meticulously. Each posture is a preparation for the next, developing strength and balance to advance. When we practice the series of Ashtanga Yoga, which increase the inner fire through the movement, the sequences of postures generate heat and this, in turn, produces sweat. Sweat helps to purify and cleanse the body by releasing toxins retained within the body.
